During a prenatal meeting, Taryn taught me several comfort techniques. These were helpful for me to use during late pregnancy and early labor to ease lower back pain and help my wife relax. At the hospital, Taryn provided support for me and the labor nurse, but never came across as pushy or trying to take control of the situation. She allowed me to be the primary coach, but was there to offer suggestions when labor wasn't progressing or a comfort technique wasn't working. Taryn was thoughtful in making sure my wife came back to a dry bed after walking around. The biggest compliment came from the labor nurse, who said "I wish I could keep you, Taryn". ~Peter

My husband is great with supporting me during labor, but it was wonderful to have an extra pair of hands and set of tricks. Taryn was there to put a cool cloth on my forehead when I felt sick or pull back the strands of hair that fell annoyingly in my face. She wasn't overbearing in her suggestions and meshed well with the other people present in the room. She takes good pictures too! My husband and I feel so blessed that we were able to have the natural VBAC that we wanted and are grateful to Taryn for the help and support she provided. It would not have been such a great birth experience without her there. ~Lora

When my husband and I decided to have a baby, I really became enthusiastic about making it a wonderful experience for the two of us. I read every book and website about fertility, pregnancy and childbirth. We were fortunate to get pregnant immediately and I became a professional pregnant gal. The love I felt for my unborn child made me want to do anything and everything to make sure we got the best care and she was loving her time in the belly. It was also very important to my husband and I to have a wonderful birth experience. I knew I wanted a natural childbirth and in order to help me achieve this goal, I chose to use midwives and a doula for our planned home birth. After interviewing 4 doulas, I chose Taryn. Two of the doulas I interviewed would have been free because their services were included in the midwife, but I just felt Taryn was more qualified. Taryn and I just really clicked. Taryn became a wonderful friend and confidant during my pregnancy. I enjoyed getting her opinions on pregnancy and child birth. When I did go into labor, I didn't think it was labor because it was just so crazy. I texted poor Taryn at 2am and she responded IMMEDIATELY. My labor progressed so fast that Taryn almost didn't make it. I know she felt badly about that but no one could predict a first time Mama would have a 6 hour birth! Also, I kept telling her that I didn't think I was in labor. There were no "rest breaks" like they said there would be in our Bradley classes. But alas, I was wrong and it was just a fast and furious labor. My husband thought he was going to have to deliver our baby, Delilah. The midwife, Taryn, and the midwife's assistant arrived 20 minutes before Delilah was born. Even still, they were all awesome! Taryn worked seamlessly with the midwife and her assistant. Everyone stayed after the birth for as long as I needed to get comfortable with my new baby and breastfeeding and mothering. We all sat and ate a lovely brunch. I couldn't have asked for a better birth experience. If you are reading this and thinking of using Taryn as your doula, I whole heartedly recommend her! This is a special time in your life and you and your baby deserve to treat yourself. Delilah and I love Taryn and she is still helping us even though Delilah's birth day was over a month ago! ~Pamela
